Larry "Smokey" F. Drew; Poppy, The Man, The Myth, The Legend; age 81, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri.
Smokey was born the son of Alfred and Iola (Kahill) Drew on February 10, 1939, in Liberty, Missouri. Smokey was united to the love of his life, Janice Ann Stevens on August 14, 1967, at Prairie Ridge Christian Church, in Polo, Missouri. She preceded him in death on December 25, 2020. They are united together forever. Smokey retired from the City of Liberty after 33 years of employment. His religious beliefs is of the great outdoors. He was also a member of the Braymer Fox Hunters Association. Smokey loved his family and his dogs, hunting, fishing, riding on his four wheeler with the kids and loved watching them play.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheri Johnson and husband, Norm, of Braymer, Missouri; one granddaughter, Heidi Young and husband, AJ; two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Delaney Young of Braymer, Missouri; one brother, Jerry Drew of Braymer, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; his parents; one sister-in-law, Mary Drew: and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601. Online condolences may be made at www.lindleyfuneralhomes.com .
