L.D. Baker

L. D. "Chick" Baker L.D. "Chick" Baker, age 82, a resident of Cameron, Missouri, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012 at Cameron, Missouri. L.D. was born the son of Lorenzo and Mayme (Seals) Baker on November 6, 1929 in Meadville, Missouri. He was a 1948 graduate of Meadville High School in Meadville, Missouri. On October 30, 1952 he married Shirley Barnett. She preceded him in death on June 22, 1978. On September 25, 1982 he married Jeannette (Willt) Bowers in Maysville, Missouri. She survives of the home. L.D. proudly served in the United States Navy from 1948 until 1952 aboard the USS Pickaway. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He drove a gas truck for Rupp oil from 1955 until 1959. In 1965 he began driving for Consolidated Freightways, he retired from CF in 1988. L.D. is survived by his wife, Jeannette Baker of the home; two sons, Dee Baker and wife Alana of Liberty, Missouri, Dennis Baker and wife Karen of Wentzville, Missouri; one daughter, Lisa and husband Randall of St. Peters, Missouri, son-in-law Eric Ander of Des Moines, Iowa, two step-sons, Robbie Bowers of Osborne, Missouri, and Michael Bowers of Gladstone, Missouri; one step-daughter, Chris Horseman and husband Doug of St. Joseph, Missouri; one sister, Judy Green of Tampa, Florida; twelve grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley Barnett; beloved daughter, Renae Ander; one grandson, Clayton Baker; two brothers, Orville and Rogers; andsix sisters, Winnie, Norma, MaryJane, Inez, Shirley, and Evelyn. L.D. was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor. He joked and teased had a great smile and he loved to laugh. We will miss him very much Funeral services will be held Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. There will be a family visitation on Friday one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Meadville Cemetery, Meadville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayside Waifs and/or Three Rivers Hospice and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
