Kyra Rosella Smith

Kyra "Rosella" Smith, age 84, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital, Milan, Missouri. Rosella was born the daughter of Homer Lee Locke Sr. and Viola Gertrude (Leclare) Locke on October 31, 1927 in Utica, Missouri. She graduated from Chillicothe High School. On December 10, 1952 she was united in marriage to John "Rex" Smith in Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2011. She worked in customer service for Montgomery Ward. Survivors include two sons, Michael Rex Smith and wife Kathy of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Daniel Lee Ewing and wife Shannon of Warrensburg, Missouri; one brother, Charles Locke of Bangkok, Thailand; one sister, Verna Benning of Chillicothe, Missouri; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Rex Smith; one daughter, Marsha (Haynes) Howe; one son, Donald Ewing; and three brothers, Alfred Locke, Robert Locke, and "Jack" Homer Lee Locke Jr. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri at 2:00 p.m. There will be a family visitation one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, on Monday, January 9, 2012 from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
