Kenneth O'Dell

Kenneth O'Dell Kenneth O'Dell age, 91, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Kenneth was born the son of Orvis and Flossie (Hoover) O'Dell on August 9, 1923, in Hale, Missouri. He was a 1941 graduate of Hale High School, Hale, Missouri. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1946 during Pearl Harbor. He married his bride Lucille on May 15, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas. She preceded him in death on May 9, 2010. Kenneth worked as a farmer all of his life. He loved reading, especially about American history, traveling, drinking coffee at MFA cattle, corn and tractors. He liked to tell stories of his days in the Navy and living in Hawaii. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren. Kenneth was a member of the Hale Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Church Trustee, and the Hale VFW Post 3464, where he received the VFW Patriotic Citizen Award for flying the flag daily. He was also a former member of the MFA Oil Board, and the Hale RI School Board. Survivors include one son, Gary O'Dell and wife Mary of Hale, Missouri; five grandchildren, Connie Rardon and husband Derek of Hale, Missouri, Carisa O'Dell of Princeton, Missouri, David Figg and wife Renee of Higginsville, Missouri, Carrie Hartwig and husband Robert of Layton, Utah, and Dustin Figg of Keysville, Missouri; seven great grandchildren, Landon and Ashtyn Figg of Higginsville, Missouri, Jordin Hartwig of Chicago, Illinois, Carsyn Hartwig of Layton, Utah, Decker, Harlow and Hadley Rardon of Hale, Missouri; one brother, Dr. Boyd O'Dell of Columbia, Missouri; and one son-in-law, Larry Figg and wife Ada of Carrollton, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille; one daughter, Linda Figg; and one infant sister Marjorie Ruth. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Saturday, December 20, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Saturday, December 20, 2014, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Hale Memorial Gardens, Hale, Missouri.
