Kelly York Kelly York, age 91, a resident of Chillicothe, MO, a former resident of California, MO, passed away at Hedrick Memorial Hospital on August 10, 2015 shortly before 11pm. His wife, Stella, was by his side. Kelly was born December 31, 1923, in Cooper Country, the son of Louis and Martha (Miller) York both of whom, preceded him in death. He was married to Stella F. Donley on June 5, 1944, in Colorado Springs, CO. She continues to live at The Baptist Home in Chillicothe, MO. Kelly entered the Air Force on January 27, 1943. He spent 26 months at Shepherds Field, TX, going to Tech School where he learned how to be an airplane mechanic. He was then sent to Martin, MD, for B-26 Bomber Specialist School where he then became a Crew Chief. He was sent to Peterson Field, Colorado Springs, CO, where he was assigned to the 2nd Air Force Headquarters. He spent the remainder of his time at Peterson Field until he was discharged on Feb. 16, 1945 at the end of the war. He served another 3 years in the Reserves. Kelly returned to Missouri to farm and also worked as a maintenance director at Tipton High School. He later worked as a Manager at the MFA bulk plant where he retired in 1988. He and Stella then moved to Sedalia, MO. In 1996, they moved to Chillicothe, MO, where they have spent their time supporting and living in The Baptist Home community. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chillicothe, MO. Kelly is survived by his wife, Stella Frances; a son, Robert Kelly York, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, a daughter and son-in-law, Adrienne and Barry Campbell of Liberty, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Wren Kelly York of Parker, Colorado, Scott York and wife Stacy of Idaho Springs, Colorado, Nicholas Osborne and wife Katie of Chicago, Illinois, and Christina Campbell of Madison, Missouri; 5 great-grandchildren, Rose Jewell May, Stella Jane, Sage Kelly, Kingsley James, and Sullivan Patrick; two sisters Juanita Elliott and Nellie Hodges of Clarksburg, MO; sister-in-law Marjorie York of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers: Roy, Leonard, Raymond, Floyd, and Martin and 6 sisters: Jean Baker, Nancy Albert, Mary Rex, Lena Hall, Viola Donley, and Faye in infancy. Funeral service will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, August 14, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, August 14, 2015, one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, August 14, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Hickman Cemetery, Clarksburg, Missouri. In Lieu of flowers, please send a memorial contribution to the North Missouri Baptist Home and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
