Katie Lightner Katie Lightner, age 97, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 05, 2015, at her residence. Katie was born the daughter of Wes Bowles Jr. and Louise (Diringer) Bowles on July 3, 1917, in Norborne, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Joe Lightner on December 20, 1930, in Gallatin, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1986. Katie worked as a home health aide for many residents in the Chillicothe area. She started working with Marshfield Homes when they opened and continued working there until they closed in 1982; she also worked at McDonald for 15 years, Hy-Vee for 18 years. Katie was a member of the Chillicothe Car Club, and was an avid car lover. Survivors include her beloved dog Molly; family friend Patricia Wood of Chillicothe, Missouri; one brother Leroy Bowles of Sun Valley, Nevada; and two grandchildren Marcy and Tiffany Lightner of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe Lightner; son John Lightner; and four brothers, Larry, John, Jackson, and Rev. Paul Bowles. A memorial service will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, May 11, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, May 10, 2015, from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. Burial will be held Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
