Kathleen Sue (Susie) Cross
Kathleen Sue (Susie) Cross, age 64, a resident of Wheeling, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
Susie was born the daughter of McKinney Tool "Bud" Cross and Alice Louise (Vestal) Cross in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 6, 1956. She attended a special needs school in Iowa until the age of 16, and she worked in a sheltered workshop in Iowa for the next 15 years. She resided with her mother until her mother's death, and had lived with her sister, Mary Harger, for the past 33 years. She is a member of the Wheeling Christian Church since 2011, where she often sang solos during the church services.
She was a daytime resident at Bella-Brooke in Chillicothe for the past 5 ½ years, and she enjoyed her time there. She was very friendly and called many she came into contact with, "My Friend." Susie had a tender heart and was kind to everyone she met. She loved to sing and crochet. Her favorite color was red.
Susie was a member of the local Special Olympics bowling team, and participated in local and state competitions. She enjoyed the family dogs, and no doubt they will miss her as well.
Survivors include three sisters, Mary Harger and husband, Richard, of Wheeling, Missouri, Linda Stufflebeam and husband, Clint, of Lucerne, Missouri, and Judy Stephenson and husband, Glen, of Rock Valley, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be held at Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling, Missouri, on Monday, January 4, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. There will be a "Susie Day" at the Wheeling Christian Church, Wheeling, Missouri, on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. Masks will be required at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wheeling Christian Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
