Karen Jean Burton, age 64, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Karen was born the daughter of William and Delphia (Wright) Mendel on August 9, 1958, in Independence, Missouri. She attended Independence schools and graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1976. She obtained sever college credit hours over the years, but truly found her passion in photography, while she worked at Bailey’s Studio, Chillicothe, Missouri. Karen was married to Brian Burton in September of 2016. He preceded her in death in 2020. Karen had a bright smile and a huge personality that she was known for. Karen enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandkids.
Survivors include her daughter Erica Newman and her husband, Darin, of Chillicothe, Missouri; her son Bradley Stubbs of St. Joseph, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Colby, Morgan, Sutton, Sydney, Bryan, Austin and Naomi; nephew, Danny Mendel ; sister-in-law, Margaret Mendel; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Joe Mendel.
