Joseph Leland Smith Joseph Leland Smith, age 64, a resident of Hale, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri. Joseph was born the son of Virgil and Ethylaine (Wright) Smith on August 29, 1953, in Lawrence, Kansas. He was a 1971 graduate of Cookeville High School, Cookeville, Tennessee. He served in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Robin Hunt on July 31, 1982, in Columbia, Missouri. She survives of the home. Joseph worked as a truck driver for J.B. Hunt Transportation for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Robin of the home; two daughters, Christina Chapman and husband Jason of Esko, Minnesota, and Melody Johnston and husband Matt of Manhattan, Kansas; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn Radcliff and husband Brad, Robert Webster, Luna Langele, Lukas Langele, and Finn Johnston; one great grandson, Bryson Green; one brother, Tom Smith of Ash Grove, Missouri; and two sisters, Debbie Mullanix of Columbia, Missouri, and Fonda Gallup of Hallsville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Josh Smith. A memorial service will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will be held at Hale Memorial Gardens, Hale, Missouri.
