Joseph Charles Darr Joseph Darr, age 62, a lifelong resident of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away at St. Luke's Mid America Heart Institute, Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday September 4, 2013. Joseph was born the son of George William and Cathern Fontell (Ishmael) Darr on August 30, 1951, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was a 1970 graduate of Chillicothe High School, Chillicothe, Missouri. Joseph was united in marriage to Barbara Diane Rungee on Febraury 21, 1975, in Carroll, Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 25, 2012. A 34-year veteran with the Chillicothe Fire Department having started in March 1979, where he was 1 of 3 Assistant Fire Chiefs and Emergency Medical Technician. He was the Chillicothe Fire Branch Coordinator for the Region H Homeland Security Region Response System (Haz-Mat team). He was the longest serving firefighter on the current force. Joseph was a lifelong member of the Oliver Branch Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Missouri, a member of the Masonic Friendship Lodge #89 in Chillicothe, Missouri. Joseph would help anyone at any time for no charge. He enjoyed helping others. He collected firefighter memorabilia. He is survived by his daughter Sara Diane Darr and fiancé Alex Stuhl and her beloved pet Hudson of Winter Park, Florida; two sisters Janet Jones and husband Bud and Karen Pauley both of Chillicothe, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Charles Oliver of Durango, Colorado; one sister-in-law Carol Darr of Dearborn, Missouri; two aunts, Lela Mierowsky of Liberty, Missouri, and Rosie Darr of Chillicothe, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Sandra Oliver; two brothers Forrest and Samuel Darr. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, September 9, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled Masonic service will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, September 8, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. with a visitation to follow from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, September 8, 2013, from 12 noon until 7:30 p.m. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Association of Firefighters Local #2460 and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
