Jonathan Paul Findley

Jonathan Paul Findley     Jonathan Paul Findley, age 54, of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away on January 24, 2017, at Life Care Center in Brookfield, MO.   He was born on October 25, 1962, in Trenton, Missouri to Gary Gene Findley and Jonalyn Jeanne Baugher Findley. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1981. He served in the United States Army and then joined the Coast Guard as Head Cook on boats patrolling rivers and coast lines. After a back injury and surgery he retired on medical disability and returned to Chillicothe.     He was a member of Chillicothe First Baptist Church and the Shark Hunters Organization. He enjoyed reading about World War II, watching football, listening to Led Zeppelin and building scale model World War II battleships. Although mobility was challenging, he was dedicated to feeding homeless cats and kittens in his neighborhood, walking through all kinds of weather daily with food for them.   He was a proud contributor to the Veterans' Memorial at the Chillicothe Courthouse and to be listed as a United States Coast Guard Veteran.     Survivors include his mother and stepfather Jonalyn and Roder Nyberg, Chillicothe, MO; sister Kelly Spainhour and husband Claude, Chillicothe; sister Andrea Runyon and husband Steve, Conception Junction, MO; stepsister Susan Dumond, Webb City, MO; stepsister Janet Spiers, Des Moines, IA; and John Nyberg, Durham, NC; aunts, uncles, nieces great nieces and great nephews.   He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Findley; grandparents John A. Baugher, Jr., Marilyn Baugher, Clara and Howard Sims, and Paul Findley; and beloved great-grandmother Lulu Mae Baugher.   In lieu of flowers his family has requested donations to the Forrest O. Triplett Animal Shelter to assist in building the shelter for cats. Donations can be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. There is no scheduled visitation. There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date.
