Johnny R. McElwee, age 63, a resident of Holt, Missouri, passed away at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri on June 2, 2010. He was born to the parents of Raymond L. and Ruth (Stratton) McElwee on July 30, 1946 in Braymer, Missouri. On May 22, 1975, he married Janice Claxton in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home. He worked for IDEAL as a truck driver for thirty-two years and retired in 1996 at the age of fifty years old. He was a member of Teamsters Local 41 for thirty-two years and the Star Club at the AmeriStar Casino in Kansas City. Johnny liked working on the farm and loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, mother, one son, John Bradley McElwee and wife Sherrie of Lee's Summit, Missouri; four brothers; Bill and Charles of Braymer, Missouri, Bobby of Meadville, Missouri, Terry of St. Charles, Missouri; two sisters, Helen Lawson and Nancy Caudle, both of Braymer, Missouri; three grandchildren, John Dillon McElwee, Dalton Bradley McElwee, and Devin Lawson McElwee; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Monday, June 7, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Braymer United Methodist Church in Braymer, Missouri. There will be a family visitation on Sunday June 6 from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri. Burial will be at Black Oak Cemetery in Braymer, Missouri. Friends may call the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday.
