John Donald Lowry

John D. Lowry, age 85, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Missouri. John was born the son of George Edgar and Martha Elizabeth (Davis) Lowry on June 13, 1926 in Black Oak, Missouri. John was united in marriage to Nora Juanita McDonald on December 1, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 11, 2003. He worked as a bus driver for the Kansas City Metro. He was a member of the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946. John was a member of the Black Oak Church, and belonged to the American Legion and the Tweedie-Murray Post 117. John had a love for baseball, and had a wonderful group of friends and family. Survivors include one son, Joe Dean Lowry of Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Dee Ann Lowry of Sugar Creek, Missouri, and Dawn Nita Haynes of Windsor, Missouri; three grandchildren, Nicholas Haynes, Jessica Lowry, and Stephanie Lowry; and two great grandchildren, Hunter Chaney, and Tylon Lowry. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Juanita; three brothers, Cloyd, Harold, and Charles Lowry; two sisters, Alma Ruth Lowry, and Ruby Francis Harbaugh. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. A family visitation will be held at the Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call the funeral home on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Black Oak Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in Braymer and may be left at or mailed to Pitts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri, 64601.
