John C. Gossick

John C. Gossick, age 78, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away at Hedrick Medical Center on July 7, 2010 after his nineteen year battle with cancer. He was born on April, 27, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri to the parents of George and Dorothy Gossick. On November 22, 1956, he married Carol Littrell in Wheeling, Missouri. She survives of the home. John was a 1950 graduate of Meadville High School and was a member of the United States Air Force from 1950 until 1954 during the Korean Conflict. He attended Finley Engineering from 1955 to 1958. He was employed by Allied Signal from 1957-1963 and from 1968-1992; McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri from 1963-1968; and the Green Hills Golf Course from 1993 until 2005. John was a member of the First Christian Church and the Vern R. Glick Post No. 25 in Chillicothe, Missouri. He enjoyed golf, woodworking and calling bingo. He is survived by one son, Douglas C. and wife Allison of Prairie Village, Kansas; two daughters, Kerry and husband Gregg Hutchison of Overland Park, Kansas and Kristy and Dan Meservey of Lee's Summit, Missouri; and eight grandchildren, Brad, Brett, and Bryan Hutchison of Overland Park, Kansas; Nick and Scott Meservey of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Jackson, Camryn, and Ryan Gossick of Prairie Villiage, Kansas. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Anna Ruth Pickering of Jasper, Georgia and Mary Margaret Norwood of Chillicothe, Missouri; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandmother and step-grandfather, Myrtle and Russell Lee, who raised him. Memorial services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. There will be no family visitation. Friends may call after 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hedrick Medical Center Hospice and left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
