John E. Dorst John E. Dorst, age 76, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. John was born the son of Dale E. and Mildred L. (Sherrow) Dorst on June 19, 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was a 1953 graduate of Olathe High School. He then went on to further his education at Kansas State University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1960. On July 20, 1958, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Smith in El Dorado, Kansas. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1958-1960. John worked as an insurance representative for Shelter Insurance for 25 years, where he had his own agency in Chillicothe, Missouri. Prior to that, he worked for 22 years as a district manager for Ralston Purina Company. He was an Eagle Scout, attended Philmont Ranch, a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church. He was also an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife Marilyn of the home; one son, Jay Dorst of Lee's Summit, Missouri; two daughters, Melanie Radosevich and husband Mark of Overland Park, Kansas, and Shellie Gilmor of Liberty, Missouri; one sister, Carlotta Belcher and husband Bill of Olathe, Kansas; one brother, Robert Dorst and wife Kathy of Topeka, Kansas; five grandchildren, Jason Vaughan and wife Chanda of Independence, Missouri, Jack Dorst of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Philip Gilmor and Jon Gilmor of Liberty, Missouri, and Katie Radosevich of Overland Park, Kansas; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. A family visitation will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Friends may call on Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
