John W. "Bill" Sampsel
John W. "Bill" Sampsel, age 82, a resident of Hale, Missouri, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at his residence.
Bill was born the son of Henry and Sybil (Ullemeyer) Sampsel on October 8, 1938, in Moline, Illinois. He was a 1956 graduate of Callao High School, Callao, Missouri. Bill served in the United States Navy from 1960 until 1980. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #38 AF&AM, Callao, Missouri, the Slater American Legion Post #78, Slater, Missouri, and the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA), Kansas City, Missouri.
Survivors include two daughters, Victoria Mott and husband, Andrew of Bothell, Washington, and Holli Hummel of Riverview, Florida; two step daughters, Tamie Carr and husband, Roger of Brookfield, Missouri, and Kandi Ellsaesser of Wichita, Kansas; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy Sampsel and one Infant granddaughter Jessica.
Graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Slater American Legion Post #78 and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601. Online condolences may be made at www.lindleyfuneralhomes.com .
