Jesse Mae (Mickey) Wheeler
Jesse Mae (Mickey) Wheeler, age 94, a resident of Stockton, Missouri, and a former resident of Kansas City and surrounding areas, passed away peacefully January 12, 2022, at the Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility.
Mickey was born August 3, 1927, to Frederick Rockwood and Maxine (Phipps) Rockwood in Kansas City, Missouri. She was united in marriage to William Charles Wheeler, Jr. on April 3, 1949. They had just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary when he preceded her in death in 2015. To this union, three children were born; Brian M. Wheeler (Anne Marie) of Tigard, Oregon, Charles Alan Wheeler (Nancy) of Everton, Missouri and Susan Keltner, of Overland Park, Kansas.
Mickey worked in civil service in the early years of their marriage. She went on to manage at an apartment complex in Ottawa, Kansas, for several years. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 2000. She loved reading, doing puzzles, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She looked forward to traveling and going to her grandchildren's games and activities. Her most enjoyable hobby was going to auctions and antique sales. She loved to hunt for collectible treasures and relics.
Survivors include her sons, Brian and Alan; her daughter, Susan; grandchildren, Keith (Amy Beth) Wheeler, Amy (Alex) Wheeler-Garcia, Lance (Ami) Keltner, Brent (Grace) Keltner, Lana (Joshua) Thorpe, Sarah Wheeler , William Charles Wheeler IV and Harrison Wheeler, and great -grandchildren, Salina Wheeler, Leo Bryan Wheeler-Garcia, Avery Keltner, Claire Keltner, Matthew Keltner, Anna Keltner, Noah Thorpe, Carter Thorpe, Luke Thorpe and Roscoe Thorpe; sister-in-law, Mary K. Demming; three nephews, Fred and Gary Rockwood, and Ted Wheeler; three nieces, Leslie Flora, Brenda Ashworth, and Claudia Bradley; as well as many wonderful friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Charles Wheeler; and two brothers, Don Rockwood and Jimmy Rockwood.
Funeral services will be held at Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Friday, January, 21, 2022, from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri, where she will be laid next to her loving husband, Charles.
