Jerome "Jerry" Joseph Caricchio Jr.

Jerome (Jerry) Joseph Caricchio, Jr. Jerome (Jerry) Joseph Caricchio, Jr., age 72, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2015, doing what he loved, working on his farm. Jerry was born the son of Jerome Joseph, Sr., and Mary Josephine (Donohue) Caricchio on December 6, 1942, in Binghamton, New York. He was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School, Binghamton, New York. He then attended Broome Community College, Binghamton, New York, graduating with an Associates of Arts Degree in Engineering. Jerry worked as a Senior Processing Engineer for IBM from 1964 until 1993 and then for Berg Electronics, Osram Sylvania, and Amphenol Corporation. While working for IBM, Jerry's team received two patents for electroplating. Jerry's last assignment involved building a plating facility in China. Jerry thrived on challenges and was proud of his work. In retirement Jerry continued to take on the challenge of finding a better way to do things always designing, constructing and tinkering to perfection on his new farm. He fell in love with rural North Missouri and enjoyed his new friends and neighbors. He was a conservationist and a good steward of his land. He lost interest in hunting deer after they became more like pets. Survivors include wife, Susan of the home; one son, Vince Caricchio and wife Melanie of Binghamton, New York; two daughters, Theresa Miller and husband John of Schenectady, New York, and Michele Terando and husband Brian of Hopedale, Massachusetts; nine grandchildren; one sister, Joan Caricchio of Binghamton, New York; the children's mother, Philomena Caricchio of Binghamton; his aunt, Pat Donohue of Binghamton, and his stepmother, Marion Caricchio of Ocala, Florida; father and mother-in-law, Dr. Leonard and Billie Fair of Chillicothe, Missouri, Lynn Fair and Frank Fillo of Moberly, Missouri and Steve Fair and Ginny Gardner of Columbia, Missouri; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jerry was a loving father, husband, brother, son-in-law, and friend. His kindness, caring and sense of humor will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Columban's Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, October 9, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. A Parish Rosary will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. with family visitation to follow. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, October 8, 2015, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Brassfield Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Help or Brassfield Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
