Jennie Vee DeFiore, age 78, died February 11, 2011 at her daughter's home in Dawn, Missouri following a battle with lung cancer. Jennie was born October 22, 1932 to Laurel Aaron and Sylvia McIntosh and was the youngest of 9 children. She graduated from Mercer High School, Mercer, Missouri in 1950. Shortly later, she joined the Air Force and worked as a supply cashier. She was married August 20, 1955 to Louis DeFiore and was the mother of two children. Jennie received her Bachelors Degree in Elementary education from Northeast Missouri State University in 1973. She was a 5th grade teacher in Kirksville, Missouri from 1972 - 1975. Then from 1975 - 1992, she taught 5th-6th grade at Southwest R-1 in Ludlow, Missouri, where she retired. Jennie is survived by one brother, Donovan McIntosh, age 88 of Orange, California and one sister, Etheleen Wilder, age 92 of Phoenix, Arizona, and one very special sister-in-law, Beverly McIntosh of Baldwin, Missouri, one daughter, Mary Cheeney of Dawn, Missouri, Four granddaughters, Mandy and Shawn Pettigrew of Kidder, Missouri, Alisha Cheeney and Mike Darnell of Ludlow, Missouri, Kayla Cheeney of Maysville, Missouri, Angie Sumner of Louisville, Kentucky and eight great-grandchildren, Austin Pettigrew, Beth Ann Johnson, Haliey Cheeney, LaKota Johnson, Shelby Pettigrew, Madison Cheeney, Brooklynn Clevenger, and Kaylee Pettigrew. Jennie was preceded in death by her daughter, Alba Jen Sumner; four brothers, Darrel McIntosh of Greenfield, Iowa, Dorvin McIntosh of Lineville, Iowa, Denzil McIntosh of Baldwin, Missouri, Aaron McIntosh of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Maurine Osborn of Davenport, Iowa, and Linnie Roberts of Torrence, California. Services will be held on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Ludlow Baptist Church in Ludlow, Missouri. There will be no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call from 12 noon until 6 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, February 13, 2011. Burial will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Lineville, Iowa. Jennie's wish was for donations to be sent in care of the Ludlow Baptist Church in Ludlow, Missouri to build a new Baptist Church between Dawn and Ludlow.
