Jean (Bowers) Evans

Wilma "Jean" (Bowers) Evans Jean (Bowers) Evans, age 84, beloved wife and mother, passed away on July 18, 2013, in Braymer, Missouri, surrounded by her family. Jean was born on November 2, 1928 in Dowell, Illinois, to William Bowers and Margarite Lillian Mantle. She graduated from Carbondale Community High School in Carbondale, Illinois in 1946. Jean moved to Braymer with her parents after graduation, where she first saw Bill Evans, just out of the Marines, standing under a Ferris wheel smoking a cigar. She married Bill in 1947 and they had four children. Jean was an active member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, William Dean Evans; three children, Stephania Evans Alexander, Thomas Bowers Evans, and Beth Evans Bennett; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law Bruce Alexander; and one daughter, Sheri Jean Evans. Services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church, Braymer, Missouri, one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri.
