James L. Tharp Jim Tharp, age 61, a Chillicothe native passed away on August 23, 2011 at his residence in Dixon, Missouri. Jim was born the son of Richie and Millie (Newton) Tharp in Chillicothe, Missouri on February 7, 1950. He was a 1968 graduate of Chillicothe High School. After high school, he attended Central Technology Institute and received an Electronics degree. On January 3, 1969, he married Regina Gilroy in Chillicothe, Missouri. To this union two daughters were born. On May 31, 2003, Jim married Debra Sherrow in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She survives of the home. He worked as a salesman for NuArc Printing for fifteen years. He attended the First Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Missouri. Jim was an avid pool player, and enjoyed motor cycles, water skiing, camping, boating, going to the lake and animals. Jim is survived by his wife, Debra of Garden City, Missouri; two daughters Tammy Saylor and husband Chris of Parkville, Missouri and Kimberley Huitt of Dixon, Missouri; five grandchildren Nick Huitt, Lyndsey Huitt, Jake Saylor, Luke Saylor, Emily Saylor. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. A family visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, and from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jim Tharp Memorial Fund and may be mailed to or left at Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
