James Frederick Mendenhall, age 84, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at Livingston Manor Care Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
James was born the son of James Edgar and Louise (Basse) Mendenhall on April 24, 1935, in Carroll County, Missouri. He was baptized on November 29, 1987, at the Highview Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. James had a great love for animals. He grew up on a farm south of Dawn, Missouri. He was always eager to help his parents with daily chores. James made friends wherever he happened to be. He loved going to Hy-Vee.
Survivors include several first cousins, Nancy Ross and husband Joe of Chillicothe, Missouri, Joan Ganske and husband Dave of Chillicothe, Missouri, Susan Gash of Chillicothe, Missouri, Elmer Gash and wife Shannon of Chillicothe, Missouri, Thyra Bailey of Carrollton, Missouri, Donny Basse and wife Loretta of Carrollton, Missouri, Victor Basse of Norborne, Missouri, and Patricia Folsom of Chillicothe, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; and aunt, Edna Gash.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, August 18, 2019, from 12 noon until 3:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
