James F. Hampton James F. "Hammer" Hampton, age 79, a resident of Princeton, Missouri, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center, Marceline, Missouri. Jim was born the son of Orville and Rosie (Graves) Hampton on March 20, 1936, in Carthage, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Carol Clark in December 1970, to that union one daughter was born. Jim was a Bridge Carpenter Foreman for companies such as Clarkson, John Massman, and Loch. Jim served in the United States Army as a combat engineer during the Korean War. Jim enjoyed fishing the Missouri River, tinkering with his tractors, hunting and spending time with friends. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with Payge and Dalton. He loved telling stories about hunting with his "tomboy". He also enjoyed working on the family saw mill and cutting hedge posts. James was always willing to help people. He saw the good in everyone. Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Stephens and husband Chris of Princeton, Missouri; one brother, John Hampton and wife Frances of Chula, Missouri; one sister, Shirley Hampton of Chula, Missouri; two grandchildren, Payge Stephens and Dalton Stephens both of Princeton, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack Hampton; two sons, Donald and David Petty; and one granddaughter, Brandy White. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at 1:30pm. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Burial will be held at a later date.
