James Edward Brown, 84, of Kansas City, Missouri, with family by his side, went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2010. Jim was born on January 24, 1926 in Nashua, Iowa, to Ray and Edna Brown. He was raised in Knoxville, Iowa, where he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served in World War II. Jim moved to Kansas City in 1948. He drove a Yellow Cab part-time for the next 25 years. In 1951 Jim went to work for the city of Kansas City in the Transportation department as a Traffic Accident Analyst and Traffic Engineering Aide where he worked for the next 51 ½ years. Jim married the love of his life Virginia Lee Anderson of Lock Springs, Missouri, on December 13, 1958, and they lived happily ever after. Jim had a great passion for auto racing. He was a long time track official and fireman at Olympic Stadium, Riverside Stadium and the Old Lakeside Speedway. He is survived by his wife Virginia; son Ray Brown and his wife Tanya; daughter Carol Gonzales and her husband Terry; three grandsons, Jared and Trevor Brown and Anthony Kinnard; sister Betty and brothers Dick and Jack. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his brother Bill and sister Mary.
