Jackie "Jack" Tyrone Mallory Jackie (Jack) Tyrone Mallory, 66, of Decatur passed away at 3 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL, after an 8 year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, MO, with his brother, Gary Mallory, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Braymer Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Braymer Alumni Association and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO, 64601. Online condolences may be made at www.lindleyfuneralhome.com . Jack was born the son of Grundy and Anna Virginia (Van Pelt) Mallory on May 14, 1948, in Braymer, MO. He was the sixth of seven children. He was a 1966 graduate of Braymer High School, Braymer, MO, and a 1978 graduate of Wentworth Military Academy & College, Lexington, MO. He served his country in the U.S. Army and as a veteran of the Vietnam War was awarded the Purple Heart. He was united in marriage to his high school classmate and beloved wife of 42 years, Sherryl (Sherry) Hosman on November 25, 1972, at the Hopewell Baptist Church, Cowgill, MO. To this union was born a son, Shane Tyrone Mallory and a daughter, Amy Reneé Mallory. After military service, Jack had a varied working career over his lifetime. He worked as a police officer in Belton, MO, then became a grocery business owner with his wife of Mallory's Market in Cowgill, MO. While in the grocery store business, he pursued a career in insurance sales and was appointed Regional Manager for Modern Income Life Insurance which brought him and his family to Decatur in 1983. He was then a business manager of a car wash business in Decatur for several years. His most recent employment was working at the Caterpillar manufacturing plant in Decatur. Survivors are his wife of the home, one son, Shane Mallory, and wife, Kristie, Decatur, one daughter, Amy Mallory and Matthew Finholm, Overland Park, KS; two brothers, Gary Mallory and wife Shirley, Belton, MO, and Stanley Mallory and wife Karen, Braymer, MO; two sisters Jennice Neubauer and husband Frank, Holt, MO, and Vickie Gravitt Braymer, MO; three grandchildren, twin granddaughters, Emma and Alexis Mallory, Decatur, and his namesake grandson, Jack Finholm of Overland Park, KS, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Keith and Donald Mallory. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, Cowgill, MO. He enjoyed fishing and listening to music, but more than anything he loved spending time with his family. His three grandchildren were the light of his life and brought him much joy. He was a kind, generous, loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend and citizen and will be missed by all who knew him.
