Jack Lowell Hanson Jackie Lowell Hanson, age 77, a resident of Longview, Texas, formerly of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017, at his residence. Jack, as he was known to his family and friends, was born November 22, 1939, to Russell and Anita (Matson) Hanson. He grew up in Chillicothe, Missouri, where he formed lasting friendships with his high school friends. Jack spent his first college year at Wentworth Military Academy where he was named Best All-Round Athlete. He finished his college education at William Jewell College where he as a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, played football and graduated with a degree in mathematics. Jack played for a short time for the Houston Oilers and then in 1962 he enlisted in the Army. He was stationed for three years at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts. After his service, he worked for Montgomery Ward from 1965 until 1989, where he excelled at retail management for 25 years. He was consistently promoted through the ranks throughout his career and was made the District's Manager of the Year while in Tyler, Texas. Before his retirement he joined the Longview News Journal staff in Retail Sales from 1989 until 2004. He enjoyed working there and working with his fellow employees. He is survived by his wife, Lynne; his two children: Diana (Alan) Scrivner and Christopher (Jill) Hanson; grandsons: Thomas Scrivner, Brett and Cole Hanson; two brothers Jim (Carol) Hanson and Jon David Hanson. He also leaves behind his aunt Pauline Davis and cousins: Nelson (Leteria) and Charles Davis. He is preceded in death by his parents and baby sister. A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, May 4, 2018, at 12 noon. There is no scheduled visitation.
