Imogene "Genie" Elaine Thompson
Imogene "Genie" Elaine Thompson, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2018, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Genie was born June 4, 1933, in Stet, Missouri, the daughter of R.C. and Alta (Stroud) Eichler. She was raised in Braymer, Missouri, where she graduated high school. At a dance she saw a handsome, blue-eyed man across the room and told her girlfriends "That's the man I'm gonna marry", and on December 26, 1950 she married Robert "Bob" Lee Thompson in Harrison, Arkansas. They lived a short time in Richmond, Lexington and Clinton, and then settled in Chillicothe to raise their three children. Genie worked as a clerk over the years at Safeway, Carl's Superette, J.C. Penney, and Walmart. But her favorite "job" was always that of being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. In their retirement, Bob and Genie enjoyed working in the garden together, and relaxing and fishing at their cabin at the Lake. Genie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. Genie will always be remembered as a loving woman and faithful follower of Christ. Children and grandchildren remember her lovingly for her delicious chocolate chip cookies and macaroni and cheese, pretty flowers, card game playing, serving meat and potatoes at every meal, enjoying fresh strawberries picked off the vine, and giver of the best hugs!
Genie is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann Ferguson and her husband, Shane, of Branson, Missouri; and sons Robert Michael "Mike" Thompson, and Donald "Don" Lee Thompson and his wife, Debbie, of Chillicothe, Missouri; seven grandchildren: John, Eric, Lindsey Ames, Haley, Brook, Abby, and Megan; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and two brothers: Ken Eichler and his wife, Judy, of Raytown, Missouri, and Bill Eichler and his wife, Virginia, of Overland Park, Kansas. Genie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; and brother, David Eichler.
