Ida Faye Brotherton
Ida Faye Brotherton, age 75, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
Ida was born the daughter of Irvin Gilbert Rounkles, Sr., and Wanda Waneta (Loper) Summers in Carrollton, Missouri, on January 20, 1950. She was a 1968 graduate of Hale High School, Hale, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Larry Brotherton on July 13, 1969 at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. They were owners of Brotherton Trucking in Chillicothe, Missouri. He survives of the home.
Ida was a hard worker and expected everyone else to work hard as well. She was a member of Highview Baptist Church. She worked for the Missouri court system and the Public Defender’s office for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Chillicothe Young Farm Wives, Meadville Saddle Club, a lifelong member of the Grand River Historical Society and worked for Congressman Jerry Litton at the Litton Charolais Ranch. Ida was active in the Liberty 4-H Club, she was a den mother for Cub Scouts, a Chapter Mother in the FFA and very involved in livestock showing for 20 years. Ida liked to stay busy as an Election Judge and a past President of the Chillicothe Rebecca’s Club #43 IOOF. They were the 1998 Livingston County Extension Farm Family of the Year as well. Ida loved all animals, riding horses and was a member of the Humane Society. She was very athletic in her younger days she played basketball, softball, volleyball and was a yellow belt in Karate. She enjoyed long walks with her sisters, crocheting and reading a good book. Ida was a season ticket holder of the Chillicothe Mudcats, and loved attending games as their unofficial fan club. She loved the Kansas City Chiefs and watching her grandchildren in all their activities. Ida loved her family dearly, her mother was her hero and her sisters were so special to her. Her sons and family meant the world to her.
Survivors also include two sons, Bryan Brotherton (Darla) of Chillicothe, Missouri and Chad Brotherton (Jenna Wynne) of Galt, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jace, Garrett, Layton, Lexa, Maggi and Madden: three sisters, Mildred Unsell (Lon) of Chillicothe, Missouri, Mary Rounkles of Tina, Missouri and Joan Cockriel of Braymer, Missouri; one brother, Irvin “Junior” Rounkles (Karen) of Columbia, Missouri; extended family, Chip and Linda Vanlandingham of Dawn, Missouri, Shawn and Jinny Moore of Brookfield, Missouri, Joe and Gina Smith of Brookfield, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin Rounkles, Wanda Summers and step-father, Loren Summers; her mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Earl Jameson. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Highview Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. A private family Inurnment will be held at a later date at Braden Cemetery, Coloma, Missouri.
