Hurshel Duane Watkins Duane Watkins, age 66, a resident of Cowgill, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri. Duane was born the son of Hurshel Chester and Madge Alice (Wright) Watkins on December 18, 1948, in New Mexico. He worked as a Steel worker for Armco Steel of Kansas City, Missouri, for 42 years. Duane served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam War. He was a member of the Steel Union Local #18. Survivors include father, Hurshel Chester Watkins; one son Preston Watkins and wife Bobbie of Gallatin, Missouri; two daughters, Chandra Goebel and husband Scott of Overland Park, Kansas, and Lana Walters and husband Casey of Bonner Springs, Kansas; four step-daughters, Christi Bolling, Margie Boxx, Rebecca Crumpton, and Sara Parris; three brothers Wes Watkins of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Dan Watkins of Richmond, Missouri, and Brian Watkins of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his mother Alice; one brother Tom Watkins; and one grandson Charlie Barlow. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Monday, May 4, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
