Henrietta Mildred Schuckenbrock

September 10, 1916 — February 19, 2014

Henrietta (Mildred) Hunt Schuckenbrock Henrietta (Mildred) Hunt Schuckenbrock, 97, of Liberty, MO, went to the Lord on February 19, 2014, at North Kansas City Hospice House. Mildred was born September 10, 1916, to May and Melville Hunt. She graduated from the University of Missouri in 1940 with a BSEd in home economics and taught in Braymer, MO. Mildred married Richard J. (RJ) Schuckenbrock in May, 1942; they shared 67 amazing years before his death in 2009. She and RJ owned a farm in Ludlow, MO and were members of St. Columban Catholic Church and the local community from 1956. Mildred and RJ were blessed with 7 children. They were preceded in death by one son, Larry Schuckenbrock. Mildred is survived by three daughters: Trish Maurer, Schaumberg, IL; Carol Bregenzer, Germantown, TN; and Joan Schuckenbrock, Orlando, FL; three sons: Rich (Lenise) Schuckenbrock, Lucas, KS; Jim (Julie) Schuckenbrock, Kearney, MO; and David Schuckenbrock, Waxahachie, TX; one sister: Helen Hunt Schraer, Louisiana, MO; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred thrived on her role as mother to 7 children and spoke often of her joy and pride in their personalities and achievements in life. She drew great energy from sharing in the lives and accomplishments of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. Keeping up with - or ahead of - this active group was a tremendous motivator and source of enjoyment for her. Mildred spent her life learning and offering support to those around her. She was a champion for education, helping ensure that each of her children attend college. After working in partnership with RJ for over 26 years to focus on their growing family and active farm, she added teaching back into the mix in 1968 - gaining certification in elementary education. Mildred then taught students in the Braymer and Southwest school systems until her retirement in May, 1989. She enjoyed and admired her students tremendously. One of Mildred's strongest life loves was for the space and beauty of the family farms and surrounding landscapes. The crystal sounds of early morning birdsongs; the sparkling steam from the pond on a crisp fall sunrise; the deep summer-green of the corn field; and the soft fragrance of honeysuckle and wild roses brought her deep joy and peace. She thrived on living in the heartland -and she carries our hearts with her always. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. James Catholic Church, Liberty, Missouri, on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. Online condolences may be made at www.lindleyfuneralhome.com . Arrangements are under the direction of Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri.
