Helen M. Lawson, age 84, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. She was born the daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Stratton) McElwee on June 19, 1939, in Ray County, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Freddy Lawson on April 18, 1981, in Braymer, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2013.
Helen was the Office Manager at The University of Southern Mississippi for 24 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Braymer, Missouri. She enjoyed painting crafts at Golden Age Nursing Home, where she was a resident.
She is survived by three brothers, Bill McElwee and wife Wanda of Braymer, Missouri, Charles McElwee of Braymer, Missouri, and Terry McElwee and wife Clea of St Charles, Missouri; one sister Nancy Caudle and husband David of Braymer, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Freddy; three brothers Johnny McElwee, Larry McElwee and Bobby McElwee; and two sisters-in-law Janice McElwee and Leanna McElwee.
Funeral services will be held at Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 12 noon until 5:00 PM. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Black Oak Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, P.O.
