Helen "Lavon" Kissick Helen "Lavon" Kissick, age 94, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Lavon was born August 3, 1920 the daughter of Orville and Helen (Jankowski) Lyons. She was a 1938 graduate of Hale High School, Hale, Missouri. On November 22, 1940 she married Ralph Kissick in Chillicothe, Missouri. They lived most of their married life on a farm near Avalon, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1989. She was an active member of the Avalon United Methodist Church, an Extension Charter member of the Triangle Club, and belonged to several card groups. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lavon is survived by two daughters, Judy Kay Kieffer of Chillicothe, Missouri and Lois Jean (Homer) Wilson of Flemington, Missouri; four grandchildren, Robert (Michelle) Kieffer Jr. of Chillicothe, Missouri, Jason (Kim) Kieffer of Chillicothe, Missouri, Laura (Scott) Thorpe of Independence, Missouri, and Carrie Tait of Wheatland, Missouri; nine great-grandchildren, Amber (Jacob) Ballard, Alicia Kieffer, Bridgett, Kennedie, Delanie, And Evie Kieffer, Jessica Thorpe and Jared and Rodney Tait; and one great-grandchild Avery Ballard. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her parents, and her brother Clifford. Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, September 19, 2014, from12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Avalon Cemetery, Avalon, Missouri.
