Helen Marie Ake

Emma Helen Marie (Hicks) Drake St Joseph, MO- Emma Helen Marie (Hicks) Drake passed away on January 30, 2016, at Mosaic Life Care. Helen was born in Chillicothe, Missouri, on January 29, 1928, to James Hicks and Sally Maness Hicks. She attended Chillicothe High School. Helen began working at the age of 12 at Horn's Drugstore. She married and had three children: Larry, Sherry and Loretta, with Adrian McCracken. She had daughter Barbara Bryant with her second husband, Orville Cooper. Helen met and married her third husband, the love of her life, William "Bill" Erving Drake on January 8, 1962. They remained devoted to each other until his death on December 25, 1985. Helen was preceded in death by her parents James Harvy Hicks and Sally Francis Maness Hicks; two brothers, Baxter Hundley and Fredrrick Wilbur Hicks; and two sisters, Blanche Herrington and Ida Lou Chapman; her husband William "Bill" Drake; daughter, Loretta Ann "Randy" McCracken Bones. Helen is survived by son Larry Dane McCracken and wife Freddie of Utica, MO; daughters, Sherry Lynn McCracken Dilla and husband Robert of St. Joseph, MO, and Barbara Bryant of San Angelo, TX; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; seven great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. "Nanny" will be missed dearly by us all. Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Burial will be at Utica Cemetery in Utica, Missouri. Family visitation will be Monday, February 1, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
