Helen attended the Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri where she learned the skills that would ultimately form her career as a bank teller and bookkeeper. While attending college she met the love of her life, Samuel (Doc) McVey Condron Jr. Sam and Helen were wed on August 5, 1950. Together they had three children, Sandra, Samuel III, and Steven.

Helen loved her family and her community. At several times she was the president of a school PTA including the Tina-Avalon PTA, and many Wives Clubs while in the Air Force. Helen was a very active member of the Oakland Christian Church and with the Avalon Cemetery. She made quilts, planned dinners, and celebrated the Christmas holidays with passion. Helen struggled with the effects of Parkinson's disease and finally succumbed to complications brought on by this horrible affliction.
