Harry Elwood Brown Harry "Elwood" Brown, age 80, a resident of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Carroll House, Carrollton, Missouri. Elwood was born the son of Harry W. and Ola May (Brame) Brown on July 10, 1936, in Hale, Missouri. He was a 1954 graduate of Hale High School, Hale, Missouri. Elwood was a member of the St. Louis-Kansas City Carpenters Regional Council. He umpired baseball from little league to 1A for many years. Elwood loved watching his grandkids sporting events, and was an avid reader of western novels. Survivors include one son, Kevin Brown and wife Jeanie of Tina, Missouri; one daughter, Marla Harrington and husband Mike of Chillicothe, Missouri; one brother, Norvelle Brown and wife Colleen of Lee's Summit; five grandchildren, Heather Kelley and husband Kyle of Bogard, Missouri, Derek Brown of Jefferson City, Missouri, Sergeant Michael Brown, United States Marine Corp. of Camp Pendleton, California, and fiancé Dianna Ballard of Seattle, Washington, Kaley Case of Kingston, Missouri, and Mason Hayward of Chillicothe, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Kaydence Kelley, Kai'Anne Kelley both of Bogard, Missouri, and Wesson Case of Kingston, Missouri; two nephews Bill Brown of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Bob Brown of Carthage, Missouri; one niece, Kris Lawson of Lee's Summit, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Friday, March 3, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Friday, March 3, 2017, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Hale Cemetery, Hale, Missouri.
