Harrison E. Raymo, age 82, a resident of Trenton, Missouri, a former resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020, at Eastview Manor, Trenton, Missouri.
Harrison was born the son of Leroy Olen and Helen Lucille (White) Raymo on November 28, 1938, in a farm house east of Chillicothe, Missouri. He grew up with a passion for country music and airplanes. Harrison attended grade school at Stagner School in Carroll County, Missouri, and graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1956 where he was active in FFA. He accepted Christ as his savior at Grand Oaks Baptist Assembly near Chillicothe, Missouri. Harrison was a lay preacher for several years and attended Hannibal La-Grange College. He enlisted in the United States Army and served as a supply clerk in France. During his time in the Army, he learned to play the steel guitar. Upon returning home, he worked at Donaldson's in Chillicothe. Harrison took flying lessons and later bought his own plane. He was a member of the Short Wing Piper Club, Chillicothe Jaycees, and Chillicothe Optimist Club.
Country music was his passion and he played in many bands. The most notable was the "Chapter Four" band, which had a large following. After a few years at Donaldson's, he decided to change careers. Harrison then worked for National Cash Register, where he repaired cash registers and bank equipment. Electronics came to be a part of our daily lives. Harrison installed the first grocery scanner at Trenton Hy-Vee and many other stores including Wal-Mart. Through the years, he made many friends and loved to visit with anyone.
Survivors include one son, Jamie Raymo of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Doris Pilcher of Trenton, Missouri; two brothers, Daniel Raymo and wife Sue of Ozawkie, Kansas, and James Raymo of Mount Airy, Maryland; seven nieces, Kay Ratliff (Rubert)of Gilman City, Missouri, Carol Clem (Richard) of Humphreys, Missouri, Joyce Farrell of Gilman City, Missouri, Kathy Angelopulos (Nick) of Brighton, Colorado, Brenda Hoselton (Johnny) of Humphreys, Missouri, Thelma Shade (Brett) of Palmyra, Missouri, and Shelly Cunningham (Darrel) of Spickard, Missouri; eleven great nieces, Peggy Coulston (Craig), Charlotte Gregg (Tony), Jesssica Cottrell, Kazie Renken, Sarah Allen (Jason), Cara Brown (Jimmie), Tara McCloud, Vickie Elder (Darren), Jeanette Hamilton (Andy), Michelle Cole (Chad), Krissy Chambers (Rick); and five great nephews, Tanner Clem, Kenneth Clem, Tom Hoselton (Terrie), Terry Hoselton (Susanne) and Tim Hoselton (Ashley); many great-great nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eldon Raymo; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Pilcher; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Raymo; one niece, Theresa Lynn Raymo; one great niece, Lisa Ratliff; and one nephew-in-law, James Farrell.
Private Family Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, December 11, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, December 10, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Chillicothe and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
