Harold Eugene “Harvey” Shipp
Harold Eugene “Harvey” Shipp, age 81, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at St. Luke’s East Hospital, Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Harvey was born the son of William Marshall and Julia Elizabeth (Williams) Shipp on January 27, 1941, in Avalon, Missouri. He attended elementary school at Green School and graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1958. After graduating, Harvey joined the United States Navy in 1959 to serve his country. After a distinguished career with the Navy, Harvey retired in 1977, and returned to Chillicothe to be close to his family. He was a member of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church. Harvey loved playing checkers, cooking, and traveling with his mother. He was an avid gardener.
Survivors include one brother, Arnold Shipp and wife Jani Sue of St. Joseph, Missouri; one sister, Donna Fay Von Holten and husband Jerry of Texas; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Betty Joyce Bolyard.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Avalon, Cemetery, Avalon, Missouri. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
