Harold "Jiggs" Ray Warren, age 100, a resident of Wheeling, Missouri, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, in Chillicothe, Missouri.
Jiggs was born the son of Buel and Lulu (Narr) Warren on October 3, 1921, in rural Chillicothe, Missouri. He served in the Missouri State Guard during World War II. He was united in marriage to Carla A. Breeden on February 11, 1945, in Chillicothe, Missouri. She preceded him in death on August 12, 2011. He was a self-employed farmer who started with a team of horses and farmed his whole life. Jiggs was a member of the Wheeling Methodist Church, until its closure. He then attended the Wheeling Christian Church. He served on the Wheeling Township Board, MFA Oil Advisory Board, County Extension Board, Production Credit Board, Federal Housing Administration, the Farmers Mutual Board, and the Wheeling Cemetery Association and served as president for 25 years. Jiggs was a Co-Founder of the original Livingston County 4-H and FFA Fair Board in 1963, and supported young people by purchasing animals annually at the fair. He won the Livingston County Outstanding Young Farmer award in 1989, was an FFA honorary Chapter Farmer, and was featured on the cover of the Wallace's Farmer Magazine in 1989. In 2013, Jiggs was inducted into the Livingston County Fair Hall of Fame.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Warren and wife Janet Sue of Chillicothe, and Robert "Bob" Warren and wife Jennifer of Jefferson City; one daughter, Mary Lou Warren of St. Joseph; one son-in-law, Ray Smith of Wheeling; six grandchildren, John Warren and wife Julie of Festus, Missouri, David Warren and wife Alisha, Mark Warren and wife Candy, Adam Warren and wife Melanie all of Chillicothe, Jessica Johnston and husband Jason of St. Joseph, and Christopher Warren and wife Libby of Belton; three step grandsons, Jason Smith of Kansas City, and Joshua Smith of Lawrence, Kansas, and Stewart Battson of Jefferson City; and two step granddaughters, Celia Battson and Claire Battson both of Jefferson City; seventeen great grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Warren and wife Kay of Mandeville, Louisiana; one sister, Dorothy Smiley and husband Donald of Wheeling; and one sister-in-law, Maxine Warren of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carla; one daughter, Linda Smith; four brothers, Ralph, Stanley, Donald, and infant, Robert; and one sister, Buela Coburn.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston County Fair Association and/or Wheeling Christian Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
