Harold David Hughes Harold David Hughes, age 94, a resident of Dawn, Missouri, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Harold was born the son of William James and Margaret Eunice (Hughes) Hughes on April 20, 1923, in Dawn, Missouri. He was a 1941 graduate of Dawn High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Harold was united in marriage to Dorothy Evelyn Byrd on October 31, 1948, in Chillicothe, Missouri. She survives of the home. He worked as a self-employed farmer and stockman. Harold was a member of the Dawn Federated Church, Dawn, Missouri. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hughes of the home; three sons, Douglas Hughes and wife Laura of Dawn, Missouri, Morgan Mark Hughes and wife Diana of Angleton, Texas, and Arthur Hughes of Dawn, Missouri; two daughters, Alice Hughes Puett and husband Dennis Lykins of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Marjorie Hughes and husband Rick Yount of Holt, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren, with another arriving in a few days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a newborn son; one brother, Morgan Gladwyn Hughes; and one sister, Margaret Revah Hughes. Funeral services will be held at the Dawn Federated Church, Dawn, Missouri, on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a meal at the Jenkins Community Center, Dawn, Missouri. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Welsh Cemetery, Dawn, Missouri, immediately following the service.
