Harold L. Atkins Harold Atkins, age 78, a resident of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Doctors Hospital in Sarasota, Florida. Harold was born the son of Harold Mares Atkins and Edna Leola (Pence) Atkins on June 19, 1935 in Chillicothe, Missouri. He graduated from Chillicothe High School, Chillicothe, Missouri, in 1953. After graduating high school he served in the army, and then attended the University of Missouri where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business in 1960. Harold was united in marriage to Louise Churchill on October 14, 1954 in Chillicothe, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2007. Harold worked for Churchill Truck Lines for 39 years. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Chillicothe. Survivors include two daughters, Danette Lear of Springfield, Missouri, Stacy Atkins of Marlinton, West Virginia and one son Barry Atkins of Marlinton, West Virginia; one brother, Donald Atkins of Salina, Kansas; four grandchildren, Austin Lear, Destiny Beverage, Angel Vela, Jesse Yardley and two great grandchildren, Avery Beverage and Trenton Harwell. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Louise Atkins; infant son Brent Lee Atkins, and great grandson Adrian Beverage. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, biking, dancing, bowling and his many friends.
