Harold "Jake" D. Atherton Harold "Jake" D. Atherton, age 89, a resident of Mooresville, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Life Care Center, Carrollton, Missouri. Jake was born the son of Lester and Nellie Mae (Morehead) Atherton on September 24, 1926, in Wakenda, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Rose Ann Ridgeway on April 2, 1982, in Carrollton, Missouri. She preceded him in death on February 14, 2008. He worked as a truck driver for Green Quarries for 17 years. He also worked as a truck driver for Banquet Foods for 10 years and for Jakes Taxi in Carrollton for 5 years. He was a member of the Wakenda Masonic Lodge #52. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Survivors include two sons, Jon Atherton of Richmond, Missouri, and David Winters and wife Carol of Kansas City, Kansas; five daughters, Carol Ann Atherton of Richmond, Missouri, Patty Mobile and husband Mike of Henrietta, Missouri, Pam Danner of Chillicothe, Missouri, Deborah Stanley and husband Steve of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Dorothy Mann and husband Mike of Mooresville, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Lou Dawson of Knob Noster, Missouri, and Elise Hotson of Carrollton, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose Ann; one sister, Mayme Atherton; and three brothers, Lovie, Alfred, and Gerald Atherton. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, March 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, March 23, 2016, from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
