H. Chester Clark (July 20, 1916 - March 28, 2012) H. Chester Clark, age 95, Chillicothe, formerly of Liberty, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at The Baptist Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Mr. Clark was born in Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma A&M (later Oklahoma State) in 1937 with a degree in business (accounting). He worked for Continental Oil, Ponca City, Oklahoma during the War, then for Consumer's Cooperative Association (Farmland Industries) in Kansas City North as an accountant from 1948 until 1981. He was the head of their accounting department for many years and also served as Coordinator of Special Projects utilizing his familiarity with oil drilling gained from his years working in Oklahoma as a youth. Mr. Clark was commissioned by Wornall Road Baptist Church to help start a mission in south Kansas City - WorRoBa, which later became Holmeswood Baptist Church. He was their first elected Training Union Director. Mr. Clark served as a deacon and chaired various committees at Second Baptist Church in Liberty and was Treasurer of the Clay-Platte Baptist Association for almost twenty years. In the late 80s, he led a committee at the church to raise money to start a home for aged Baptists in Chillicothe, Missouri. He also worked thousands of hours for Liberty Hospital Auxiliary. He and his wife, Laura, took care of their parents in their declining years and also their daughter throughout her illness and death due to multiple sclerosis. Chester built several houses around in Missouri and Oklahoma as the son of a building contractor. In retirement he worked for AARP and the federal government preparing free tax returns for the elderly and handicapped. He went to the homes of those unable to go to the preparation site and helped many elderly people and widowed women with repair/ maintenance projects around their homes. Chester enjoyed working around the house, eating Mexican food, church and family activities, reading and traveling. He believed that Jesus is the Messiah and he tried to lead a life that Christ would approve of. In 1981 after retirement, he served as administrator of an orphanage in South Korea. He helped many individuals and groups financially while living frugally himself. He enjoyed ballgames, working around the house and church activities. He was grateful to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church for making it possible for him to hear the Gospel in his declining years with their excellent sound system even though he was a member of another church. Chester is survived by daughter, Gerri Imm and Grandson Louis Clark-Imm, both of Liberty, Missouri, grandson, Aaron Imm, Kansas City, Missouri, granddaughter Melissa Cantore, Maryland, nephew Ben P. Clark, Texas, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Laura Mae, daughter Nancy Clark, and two grandsons. A Cremation Memorial Service will be held on Monday April 16, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the 2nd Baptist Church, Liberty, Missouri. Inurnment will be held at New Hope Cemetery, Liberty, Missouri.
