Gladys Stark

Gladys Stark Gladys Stark, age 93, a former resident of Dawn, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Golden Living Center, Smithville, Missouri. Gladys was born the daughter of Everett and Harriett (Newton) Lowrey on May 24, 1920, in Carroll County, Missouri. She was a 1937 graduate of Dawn High School. After graduation, she attended Chillicothe Business College. She was united in marriage to Edwin Stark on December 27, 1947. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1964. Edwin and Gladys owned and operated Lowrey & Stark Grocery and Feed Store along with Helen and Albert Lowrey in Dawn for many years. After Edwin passed away, Gladys then worked for the Dawn Community Bank, which is now Bank Mid-West of Chillicothe, until her retirement on July 19, 1994. After her retirement, Gladys moved to Smithville, Missouri, in 2005. She was a member of the Dawn Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, cooking, and visiting with people. Survivors include one daughter, Donna Colvin and husband Rick of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Russell Lowrey of Kearney, Missouri; two sisters, Pegs Jones of Kearney, Missouri, and Francis Braden of Kearney, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edwin; one daughter, Margie Byrd; three brothers; and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions made be made to the Enon Cemetery and/or the Golden Living Center Activity Fund and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
