Geralldine "Geri" Ruth Owens
Geraldine "Geri" Ruth Owens, of Lago Vista, TX, passed away on January 3, 2022 at the age of 92. She was born on August 17, 1929, in Dawn, Missouri to parents Robert and Esta Griffith.
Geri was the second of three daughters. Her older sister, Lois Shanks, passed away in January 2021. She is survived by her younger sister, Elda Augustine, of Lapeer, Michigan.
Geri graduated from Dawn High School in 1947 and from Chillicothe Business College in 1948. In February 1951, she married Dale S. Owens.
They raised 3 children and lived in Kansas City, Missouri, Dayton, OH, Houston, TX, Corpus Christi, TX, and Bentonville, AR, where Dale retired from NCR. They moved back to Dawn, MO to take care of their aging mothers.
She is survived by her husband, Dale, and three children Rhonda Grosser in Bellevue, KY, Kevin Owens in Cedar Park, TX, and Dalene Young in Dallas, TX, 5 Grandchildren, and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Geri was a devoted wife, mother, and grandma who relentlessly gave hours to her family, church, and community. She loved gardening, sewing, traveling and serving others. She was an avid reader and lover of historical fiction.
A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 4pm at Grace Fellowship Church, 19615 Boggy Ford Rd., Lago Vista, TX 78645.
A graveside ceremony will be Monday, January 10, 2022 at 10 am at the Welsh Cemetery in Dawn, Missouri.
