Gerald Ray Hunter, age 72, a resident of Mendon, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at his residence. Gerald was born the son of LeRoy Hunter and Marjorie (Bayte) McNown on October 18, 1948, in Marceline, Missouri.
He served in the United States Army. Gerald was united in marriage to Carol Ruth Williams on March 1, 1994, in Chillicothe, Missouri. She preceded him in death on February 11, 2014. He worked as a truck driver for many years. Gerald was a member of the Freedom of the Road Riders, the Vern R. Glick American Legion Post #25 of Chillicothe, and the American Legion Tirey J. Ford Post 21 of Independence. He enjoyed motorcycles, making dream catchers, and RC cars.
Survivors include his fiancé, Luella Newberry of the home; two daughters, Monja Hunter of Ohio, and Heather Harris and husband Jason of Brookfield, Missouri; one son, Joshua Hunter and wife Alissa of Ohio; four grandchildren; stepdaughter, Jessica Lipschutz of Ohio; his mother, Marjorie McNown of Mendon, Missouri; six sisters, Bonnie Fainter of Mendon, Missouri, Nancy Hunter Stiltz, Marquita Ellen Hunter Still, Rebecca Hunter Deihl, Pamela McNown Woody, and Virginia Hunter Bassett ; one brother, Billy Dean Hunter; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; wife, Carol Hunter; son, Gregory Allen Hunter; infant son, Dakota James Ray Hunter;  grandson, Nathan Hunter; granddaughter, Natalia Lynn Hunter; and brother, Harry Mcnown.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to LICOVA (Livingston County Veterans Association) and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
