George P. Martin
George P. Martin, age 87, a resident of Cowgill, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at North Care Hospice House, North Kansas City, Missouri.
George was born on September 8, 1931 to Ernest Martin and Glenna (Mann) Martin in Bolivar, Missouri. He was a 1949 graduate of Wheatland High School. He was united in marriage to Glenda (Jordan) Martin on December 28, 1952 in Wheatland, Missouri. George was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. He worked at General Motors Leeds plant in Kansas City, Missouri for 30 years. George also raised cattle at their farm near Cowgill, Missouri. George was a classic car enthusiast. He enjoyed restoring Studebaker and Kaiser-Frazer cars. George served as a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Cowgill.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Martin of the home; three sons, Michael Martin and wife Paula of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Jeffrey Martin of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, Brent Martin and wife Tami of St. Joseph, Missouri; one sister, Karyol Lovett and husband Joe of Bolivar, Missouri; four grandchildren, Curtis Martin and wife Michelle, Mackenzie and husband Shayne Martin-Fisk, Johnathan Martin, and Destin Payne; two great-grandchildren, Maddox Puca, and Layah Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter-in-law, Cathy Martin; and one brother, Gary Martin.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Cowgill, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley-Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Monday, April 8, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley-Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Monday, April 8, 2019, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery, Bolivar, Missouri, at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cowgill and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
