George Washington Hayward, age 90, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care Center, St. Joseph, Missouri.
George was born the son of Charley and Losie (Ball) Hayward on May 8, 1928, in Savannah, Missouri. He was a 1946 graduate of Savannah High School. George served in the United States Army for 25 years. He worked at the State Training School for Girls for 18 years. He was a member of the Chillicothe Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2428, was a charter member of the Chillicothe Elks Lodge #656, a member of the American Legion Dick Munkres Post 287, a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Kansas City Lodge #10, and most recently a member of the St. Joseph Fraternal order of Eagles Lodge #49, where he served for a period of time as secretary. George also volunteered his cooking skills for numerous events over the years at the Chillicothe Eagles Lodge and Elks Lodge.
Survivors include dear friend, Judy Kilburn of Wisconsin; one sister-in-law, Lyla Hayward of Austin, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward, Charles "Bebe", and Charles "Chaz" Hayward; and four sisters, Virginia, Helen, Mae, and Thelma.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. An Elks memorial service will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 5:30 p.m., with visitation to follow from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, April 12, 2019, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Savannah City Cemetery, Savannah, Missouri, on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at 12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the LICOVA (Livingston County Veteran's Association) and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
