George "Bill" Silvey George "Bill" Silvey, age 87, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away at his residence on Monday, May 23, 2011. George was born on November 8, 1923 in Chadwick, Missouri the son of Sherman and Thelma (McKiddy) Silvey. On May 10, 1945 he was married to Jo Ann Elliott in Kansas City, Kansas. She survives of the home. George served in the Army during World War II from June 1942 until October 1945 and served in the Air Force during the Korean War from February 1951 until November 1952. He was employed for 29 years at TWA in Kansas City, Missouri, was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. He was a past commander of the Vern R. Glick American Legion Post 25, Chillicothe, Missouri, RSVP, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Grand River Historical Society and the Chilli Campers Club all of Chillicothe, Missouri. He enjoyed traveling and camping. George is survived by his wife; one son, David Silvey and wife Deborah of Gladstone, Missouri; two daughters, Cathy Griffith and husband Steve of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Beth Skinner and husband Dan of Chillicothe, Missouri; one sister, Marie Beever of Florissant, Colorado; seven grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Bernard Silvey, Earl Silvey, and Claude Silvey. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. There will be a family visitation on Thursday, May 26, 2011 one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contribution may be made to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, the Vern R. Glick American Legion Post No. 25, and/or the VFW Post 858 and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
