Geoffrey Smith Geoffrey Smith, age 70, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehab, Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Geoffrey was born the third son of Edmund E. Jr. and Ruth (Blackman) Smith on September 25, 1944, in Chariton, Lucas County, Iowa, where he was raised. He graduated from Chariton High School, Chariton, Iowa. Geoffrey served in Viet Nam from 1966 until 1967 with the 377th CBT Sup (Air Police) and finished his fourth year of U.S. Air Force service in southern Japan with the rank of Sergeant. He was a long time employee of Hallmark Cards in Kansas City and Liberty, Missouri, retiring in 2002. Geoffrey retired to a small 80 acre farm in Caldwell County near Braymer, Missouri on Bethany and Soo Line roads. While living in Chariton, Iowa Geoffrey was a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church. He was an avid donor to the Braymer Community as well as the National WWI Museum. He enjoyed Nascar, visiting with friends at the Braymer Sandwich Shop and traveling and he will be remembered for his friendly and good nature. Survivors include two brothers Edmund E. Smith III and wife Bea of Ft. Madison, Iowa and their son Edmund E. IV and wife Lisa and her family of Farmington, Iowa, and Kelton Smith and wife Marillyn of Liberty, Missouri, and their children William R. B. Smith of Kansas City, Missouri, and Sarah A. Smith of Kansas City, Missouri; close friends John and Linda Lowe of Liberty, Missouri, their children Johanna and Chris Marshall, Cheryl Gilbreath, Dana and Bret Goss, and grandchildren Hanna, Melanie, Charley, Braiden, Cora, Sydney, and Easton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Monday, April 20, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Black Oak Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri.
