Gary Vanderpool

Gary Cleveland Vanderpool, devoted husband, wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on December 10, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Born August 19, 1937 in Braymer Missouri to Virgil and Vera (McBee) Vanderpool where he spent his childhood on the farm. Gary attended and graduated from Braymer C-4 High School in May 1955, married Judy (McKnight) Vanderpool in January 1956. To this union two children were born, Gary Cleveland Vanderpool Jr. (10/10/1956) and Tary Marie Vanderpool (03/07/1962), four grandkids and four great grandkids. Gary had a 30 year distinguished career in the United States Air Force beginning in August 1956 and ending in August 1986. 30 years of travel resulted in lots of adventures and wonderful memories from water skiing, scuba diving in the Mediterranean Sea to snow skiing in the snow capped mountains of Colorado. Gary was a member of the Murray/Tweedie Legion Post 117, the Mason and the Braymer Baptist Church. Golf was a passion of Gary's and on the off day that he didn't play well, it was still a lovely day on the course. Gary enjoyed yard work and took pride in the way his home was landscaped and maintained. Gary's garden was another "hobby" that often got way bigger than he planned and resulted in lots of work but lots of great vegetables come winter. Most of all, Gary loved spending time with family and friends, he was a fun loving man that will always be remembered as tough but fair. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Vera Vanderpool, his son Gary Vanderpool Jr. and his granddaughter, Kary Brower, who received an amazing birthday present the day she met her Grandpa at the gates of heaven. Gary is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Vanderpool of the home, his daughter, Tary Vanderpool, Braymer, MO, his brother, Dwight Vanderpool, Liberty, MO, Grandson Gary Cleveland Vanderpool III, Colorado Springs, CO, Grandson Jon-Paul Brower, Braymer, MO and Granddaughter, Jordyn Meseberg, Braymer, MO, 4 great grandkids and several nieces and nephews.
